Reach For The Stars!

Reach for the stars! No matter how many fears may surround you.

This coming Saturday will be the third Imagination Workshop, however workshop number three will be a little bit different. Our past Imagination Workshops have taken place at the Green Point Eco Park. A fantastic venue which I highly recommend for all parents to take there children, and for all other people who enjoy strolling in the park or picnicking on the grass.

However this Saturday we will be taking our workshop to the South African Museum and Planetarium in Cape Town. The museum happens to be one of my favourite places in the city, and also holds very fond childhood memories.

Well, not all of the memories were fond as I remember being scarred when going through the dinosaur exhibition. The exhibition is at the exit point of the museum, so each time I went (even as a teenager) I had to face my fear of the big -almost too real dinosaur - which had no glass encasing (you are probably wondering why they should have an encasing around a fake dinosaur, but I would have felt safer).

So the upcoming trip to the museum got me thinking about how to integrate positive affirmations, as a way to help children over come their fears and insecurities. I decided to do a series of face your fears challenges within the museum whilst teaching them about how to use the affirmations to overcome their fear.

After a very quick lunch, we will be going to watch a show at the planetarium a show which is the perfect ending of the day. This show is called; Davy Dragon's Guide To The Night Sky

Come and join Davy Dragon while he learns all about the sky above so that he can fulfil his dream of becoming the world's best flying dragon! This is a powerful introduction into astronomy especially for the under 10s.

I am looking forward to going back to the museum and seeing the expressions on the children's faces when they see all the wonder inside the museum and planetarium and I am especially looking forward to hearing feedback from them on how using positive affirmations has helped them over-come their fears. I know seeing Davy Dragon confront his fears will leave a lasting impression on them.

A big thank you to Iziko museums for the sponsoring of 15 tickets for our children !!!!

Why not see which shows are playing at the planetarium this winter, these are fun not just for children but for adults too.
